Jerusalem Gold Stone with Maracas Glass Tile Fireplace, West Hartford, CT
This West Hartford house is a 1905 English Revival with all the cozy charm that you would find in an English Country house. The original fire place and tile had long ago been removed and replaced with something more Victorian than Edwardian in look. Rather than try to recreate the 1905 mantle and surround the homeowner, a savvy DIY remodeler, decided to start anew and install something more eclectic. The natural stone mantle was created with Jerusalem Gold limestone. Refined Stone boxed out the existing brick firebox with the limestone with a curved edge detail on the mantle shelf designed by the homeowner. The surround and hearth are Marracas glass frosted 1''x1'' inch mosaic tiles. The surround tiles are Rafia Gold chosen to compliment the Jerusalem Gold stone. the hearth tiles are Lake Shore a blend of colors chosen to work with the patina of the hardwood floors. Very nice indeed!
